Why
Flexi-Training?
The instructors
and staff of Canine Action have long recognized the need for a more
flexible training program to meet the needs of today's busy, modern
lifestyles. Face it...our lives are more hectic today than ever.Very
simply, this program is an ongoing schedule of classes that permits
you to move ahead, from level to level, when YOU are ready. If you
have to interrupt your training for any reason, you can do it without
the frustration and stress caused by falling behind everyone else
in the class. You simply pick up where you left off when you return.
The criteria for the
levels in our adult/adolescent program is too comprehensive to
list. This program is also designed to be a continuation for those
graduating our puppy program. This program will move you from
very basic to an advanced level training that is comfortable for
you and your dog. Initially, skills such as Attention/Name Recognition,
Sit, Down, Stand, Come, Stay, Place, Heel/Loose Leash Walking,
& Leave It/Drop It are introduced (or reviewed for puppy graduates)
in Level 1. Next, level 2 introduces the 3 D's of proofing your
training (Duration, Distance, and Distraction) while introducing
some trick training. You will have the opportunity to earn the
coveted CGC (Canine Good Citizen) award upon completion of the
program. (Please visit www.akc.org
for more information.)
FAQ's About
Flexi-Training
1. When can
I start? You can start anytime, but we recommend that
you attend an orientation prior to attending Level 1. Orientation
is held from 6:45pm- 7:45pm on various evenings throughout the
month. Check the online calendar for the next orientation.
2. What happens
if I need to miss a class? Absolutely nothing! Just pick
up at your current level when you return.
3. I noticed
that my current level is scheduled more than once a week. Which
class should I attend? Attend the one that works best
for you. If you are extremely motivated, you may attend more than
one scheduled class for your current level. For example, if you
are currently working at Level 2 and you notice there is a class
scheduled on Tuesday at 6:45pm and one on Thursday at 6:45pm,
you may choose one or both. It’s your choice! As a bonus,
you may also attend a class from a previous level if you want
a refresher.
4. What if
I don't complete the program in the allotted time frame?
We give you 16 weeks to move through this program which is plenty
of time if you do your homework an attend on a regular basis.
If, however,
you wish to continue on after your 16 weeks, you may purchase
a 4-week extension for a nominal fee.
